Hypnos Hermes
An Illustrated Epic Fantasy Poem
She comes! Answering a patience
That makes mischief in the gap.
Her gown the hidden stars,
Glittered points on cuff and clasp.
from Hypnos Hermes
Hypnos Hermes is an illustrated epic poem that will take you to a world of brave knights, terrible monsters, and enigmatic witches.
This work records mystical encounters with ancient deities and archetypes who live in our dreams and wildest fantasies. Meet spirits of adventure, danger, joy, and mystery. Their enchanted landscape of labyrinthine forests, jewelled caverns, beautiful gardens, and ancient palaces comes to life in the many full-colour art pieces.
Poetry's abstract imagery and atmosphere meet a novel's plot and characters in an illuminated manuscript that evokes our ancient myths and ancestral memories.
Strange characters and fabulous creatures await you: the dusk knight, moth sentinels, the rose sorceress, and many more. They call you across the bridge of centuries with promises of soothing beauty, wise counsel, and strange revelations. Dare you meet them?
The Development of Hypnos Hermes
Hypnos Hermes started initially as a shorter poem written after a daydream about a fantastical encounter in a cave. Upon completion of this poem, I found myself reluctant to give the piece a title as it occurred to me it was just that – a piece of a greater whole.
How had this explorer come to find himself upon this “subterranean shore”? What adventures would he find next with this newfound freedom and curiosity?
I started working with Jungian creative writing techniques where the end of a day (or night dream) becomes a starting point for the next dream, and thusly this narrative journey came to be.
These “dream diaries” became Hypos Hermes – a story from the world of Hypos delivered with the tools of Hermes.
